When people think of Boston, they generally tend to think about the many different universities that cater to some of the most brilliant minds in the world, the significance that Boston has had in United States history and even about their cream pies. However, many Boston residents tend to forget that, because of these same reasons and the fact that Boston is a growing and advancing city that is on the forefront of many aspects of modern American culture, there are many different opportunities to make money.

One of the simplest ways to make money in Boston, outside of a standard nine to five, is to participate in paid studies. Because of the sheer size of Boston and the high profile businesses and people that the city seems to attract, there are a great number of different possibilities to get paid for focus groups to help research marketing techniques, new products and even just give companies ideas. There are almost endless and constant studies and focus groups that are going on in the city, which means that it could be possible to make an actual career out of it.

Also, because of the medical research facilities and the number of brilliant minds that are attending university here, there are also almost endless medical studies. Many people are put off by these, but most are, in fact, just studies to better understand human physiology. There are sleep studies, habit studies, diets, exercise and even stress studies to see how the body reacts and what kinds of people handle different situations more effectively. All of these studies can take time and effort away from a normal job, but the participants are generally very well compensated for their time and energy.
